Located in Northeastern Ontario, Detour Lake Mine is a cornerstone of Canada’s mining sector. As the largest gold-producing mine in the country with the country’s largest gold mineral reserves, it produced 671,950 oz of gold in 2024and sits within the northernmost part of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt.
Throughout their visit, educators experienced an immersive overnight stay Little Hopper, one of two mining camps on site, and explored the key points of interest that define Detour Lake Mine. From witnessing cutting-edge technology in action to learning about our commitment to environmental stewardship, this visit highlights the crucial role mining plays in driving sustainable progress.
