SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
Gary Lauria Memorial Scholarship ($5,000) x2 – In honor of Gary Lauria, this scholarship recognizes two students who are dedicated to the mining industry, prioritizing health, safety, and mental well-being. Gary, a former Kirkland Lake Gold employee with over 40 years of industry experience, was deeply committed to safety and success for all. Joining Ontario Mine Rescue early in his career, Gary’s passion for safety led to numerous district championships. This bursary celebrates Gary’s legacy by supporting a new generation of mining professionals who share his values.
Excellence in Mining ($5,000) x2 – This award will be given to two students who have had previous experience at our Macassa or Detour Lake mine and have a keen interest in returning.
Elizabeth Hagan Memorial Scholarship ($5,000) x2 – In honour of Elizabeth Hagan, this scholarship will be awarded to two students pursuing the arts with a passion for community and inclusion. Elizabeth Hagan was a long-time employee of Agnico Eagle’s Macassa Mine and an avid and talented photographer. She was a member of the Multicultural Society and sought to bring the community together through her art.
Indigenous Student Scholarship ($5,000) x2 – This award will be granted to two Indigenous students who are currently in or intend to pursue post-secondary education in mining or skilled trades.
Agnico Eagle Ontario Scholarship ($2,500) x6 – This award will be awarded to six students who are pursuing post-secondary education in northern Ontario.
